New Year: 2020 & Hexclad Pans We Love

Our new year began with taking down the Christmas lights and adding a fire pit to the backyard…

During a stressful afternoon, our neighbor texted to say their was a rainbow over our house.  We captured these pictures as the rainbow as so bright and a reminder of God’s promises…it felt like a hug from God…

One of our favorite purchases of 2019 was our new pans…

We have gone through lots of pans looking for a healthy option while the green, orange and others did not last as they warped from the heat, didn’t cook evenly and lost their coating or non-stick ability.  Coming to the reality that cooking with only cast iron was our only option, we came across the PFOA-free option of Hexclad.

Hexclad is a hybrid of stainless steel and non-stick cookware.  The design leads to very consistent heating across the pan.  Just a little butter or oil makes for healthy cooking and very easy clean up.   They are dishwasher safe, but the clean up is so easy that ours don’t go in the dishwasher.

Side note: I accidentally scorched one of  my pans…used a few drops of lemon oil and cleaned it…you would never know! Truly amazing as it was black!  Don’t recommend trying it as the food did not fare as well! šŸ™‚

One more perk…the handles stay-cool, unlike my cast iron skillet!  So, my cast iron skillet has become my back-up when I need a fourth pan while cooking a large meal.

CAUTION to your pans:

Nonstick cookware often contains poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances, also called PFAS. Perflurooctanoic (PFOA), a harmful carcinogenic compound, can be released when exposed to heat.  Carcinogenic compounds can increase the risk of cancer, hormonal imbalances, thyroid  and immune disorders to name a few problematic health issues.  Reading that nonstick pans can leach heavy metals such as lead and cadmium makes me say nope to those.  Also, from my reading about lead toxicity, it increases your toxic load, inflammation possibly leading to chronic health concerns.
