Our house is a gift!

We know what it feels like to have to walk away from a dream home.  Eleven years ago, we built our dream house and picked out our lot even before the roads were paved in the neighborhood.  That dream home turned nightmare as it had chinese drywall & sinkhole!  After two years and two months of living there, we moved out.  We have had some really difficult days since then, and it has only been through prayer and our faith that we were able to handle the overwhelming situation.  We continue to talk to our boys about how things of this world come and go and it is ultimately how we live for God.  There is not a lot of hope in this world, but He has blessed us in big ways, such as being released from our remediated chinese drywall house the week before the bank was going to foreclose, as well as living in different houses which have allowed us to meet some great people along the way who we would not have met otherwise.

From the timing of finding this land, to the purchasing of the land, to this day, there are a lot of ways that we see God working the details which we could not have orchestrated any other way.  We look forward to the house being complete, but know that our story will continue.  We took time out with our boys.  They chose the verses they wanted to write in their rooms, and all five of us took the opportunity to write on the foundation and studs of our house.

“Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builder is wasted.”  Psalms 127:1a

Entry:  “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”  Joshua 24:15

Bathroom: “Give us clean hands and pure hearts.”  Psalm 24:4

Pantry:  “Give us this day our daily bread.” Matthew 6:11

Dining area:  “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”  Psalm 34:8

Closet: “But above all things, put on love.” Colossians 3:14a

B1’s room: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel.”  Romans 1:16

B2’s room:  “You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly.”  Proverbs 3:24

B3’s room:  “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 & “For whoever follows me shall not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

Boys bedrooms by Mommy:  “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believer in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”  1 Timothy 4:12

Master bedroom: “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”  Ephesians 4:2-3 & “I have found the one whom my soul loves.” Song of Solomon 3:4

Homeschool room:  “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as if working for the Lord, not for human masters.”  Colossians 3:23

Hallway:  “I have no greater joy than to know my children walk in the truth.”  3 John 1:4

Our eternity is found in the gospel of Jesus alone.  Because we asked Him to save us of our sins and live for Him, we have salvation and hope to know that our story continues and will one day lead us to heaven when our life on earth ends.

We look forward to this house being used for hospitality and filled with laughter, love and memories!  One day our eternal home will have pearly gates and streets of gold!
